The design dealt with the architectural potential of redensification of urban commercial areas, the belts between urban city centres and rural suburbs. How can large-scale production buildings be reconciled with lively and high-quality living space?
The design responds by stacking the two uses and locating the development compactly inside the building. The immediate surroundings of the building remain free of noisy infrastructure and allow for an all-round activation of the environment through the ground floor.
Delivery and access are each organised via two strands with two compact cores. Expression and materiality reference the existing uses of the commercial area, while warm nuances complement them with the wooden residential floors.
