ivry`s pier
Transformation of an old charcoal platform located on the Seine banks into a public place and beach facility Built on the remaining super structure of Thomson’s Power factory in the south of Paris, the project brings together a public beach and a complex of seasonal renting apartments. This hundred-year-old platform, located in the middle of a post-industrial area is sculpted into a climatic leisure infrastructure.

The project digs under the surface of the slab to house beach facilities, as well as a hydraulic filtration station. Beneath the square, the structural grid will be exposed and returned to the public via a walkway while the hydraulic network irrigated by filtered water from the Seine creates cool conditions for summer comfort. At the center of this intervention, the central shade canopy is raised above the amphitheater, making it an element of signal. The canopy is structurally made of three-dimensional trusses covered in perforated aluminum. Adjacent to the square, the seasonal housing complex develops along the riverbank. Erected in a wood structure, the building houses a series of habitats for tourists and holiday camps.
